I was watching television last night, and an Uncle Ben’s Rice advert came on. The advert depicted the company being very natural and ethical and at one point said “we let nature do its work”. The whole advert gave a pretty nice image of the company, being very natural and working with nature.

Then it occurred to be – isn’t Uncle Ben’s a prominent user of GMO foods and Monsanto products? And yes they are, on all the GMO lists I could find, both big and small, Uncle Ben’s appeared on them all. I am not singling out Uncle Ben’s on this, I am sure that there are hundreds of companies partaking in a very similar marketing strategy, but is it fair to be doing so?

Health information is being masked by big companies. I won’t go into the whole GMO debate, but people should be given the full information on products they will consume. Im not going to go into the whole GMO debate, but if I want to avoid GMO foods, then it really shouldn’t be hidden from me. If something is said to be natural, I assume it is a result of natural evolution, not artificially playing with genes in a lab! Make you think about all the food you are eating!
