Have a meal which is almost all meat.

Why

In the last healthy habit you were unable to get a proper meaty meal all week, your little tribe has made a concerted effort to get a big game kill – and with great success. You now have a big animal to eat. You lack a fridge or freezer, so it all has to be eaten pretty quickly before it begins to rot. So, the only thing to do is eat it all – light up the BBQ, and gather the tribe (or family) around.

Not so fast…

Before you go layering the BBQ grill with steaks, burgers, sausages and other meat products you are particularly fond of, have a think – is this food they type of food you should be eating after a big game kill? Steak, maybe, but burgers and sausages certainly not, especially not in a bread roll!

With a big game kill there is a lot of meat, but not all of it will be muscle meat like a steak. With this healthy habit, you should try and consume some organ meats. Think heart, liver, kidneys or even brain if you are feeling up to it. It is these organ meats which are really nutritious. Just have a look at the amount of nutrition in just 28g of beef liver below. It is packed full of vitamins and minerals (in fact the vitamin A content is so high, you have to be careful about eating it everyday). Organ meat is many times more nutritious than muscle meat, so try and include at least one organ meat in this meal.

Enjoy your meaty meal, and let us know organ meats you have eaten.
